Free fonts for presentations, decks and slides

Slides are read at distance, in bad lighting, by people who are half listening. The fonts here were chosen for exactly that: open letterforms, strong bold weights for titles and numerals that stay clear in charts and tables.

They suit pitch decks, conference talks, training material, quarterly reviews and webinars. Download is free; a deck shown to clients is commercial use, so check the ZIP license before it leaves the building.

Slide typography that carries to the back row

Title at 36 to 44 pt, body at 24 to 28 pt, never below 20 pt. One font family, two weights, left aligned. Six lines per slide is a hard ceiling; if you need more, you need another slide. Dark text on light backgrounds reads better in bright rooms, the reverse in dark ones, so ask about the venue before you finalise the theme.

Questions about fonts for presentations

What font size should presentation slides use?
Titles 36 to 44 pt and body text 24 to 28 pt. If the deck will be read on laptops rather than projected, you can go slightly smaller.
Will my font travel with the file?
PowerPoint can embed fonts on Windows if the license allows it; otherwise export to PDF so the typography is preserved everywhere.
Serif or sans serif for slides?
Sans serifs are safer when projected. A serif works for title slides or when the brand calls for it.
