Burford is a layered base type font pack by Kimmy Design. During his trip to Amsterdam, he spent many hours in daily sketching characters of Burford. When he returned back to US he digitalized those sketches and transformed them into a beautiful layer based font and named it Burford Pro Pack.
The Burford Pro package is ideal for users of high-end design applications (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc. ). This package contain all eighteen layering fonts, comprising five base layers, three top layers, five bottom layers and two sets of graphics. Kimmy Design designed these font to complement each other and work in harmony, thus forming a logical and easy-to-use layer-based family. Alphabets A, C, E, F, G, H, P, Q and R have Stylistic Alternatives that appear when the OpenType Panel (WINDOW – TYPE – OPENTYPE) is activated by pressing the ‘aa’ button. The Pro pack also includes webfonts.
The Burford Extras set comprises approximately 100 elements per set, covering all the fundamental keyboard characters. These elements have been created to be compatible with Burford’s diverse styles and consist of banners, borders, corners, arrows, line breaks, catchwords, anchors etc.
Burford is highly multilingual, supporting alphabets for Cyrillic, Catalan, Cornish, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Macedonian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, and many more!

Where Burford Font works best
Thumbnails and covers
Burford Font is built to be recognised small. Three words, high contrast, and it survives being scaled to a phone screen.
Event and match posters
Display letters at full width make a date and a name readable across a room, which is all a poster has to do.
Merch and streetwear
Heavy display shapes print cleanly on fabric and stay legible when the garment moves.
Is Burford Font really free?
The download costs nothing and needs no account. What you may do with the font afterwards is set by its author: the license file travels inside the archive, and it is the only document that decides whether a commercial project is covered.
How do I install it on Windows or a Mac?
Three steps, no extra software:
- Download the ZIP and extract it (double-click on Mac, right-click → Extract on Windows).
- Open the .ttf or .otf file and click Install / Install Font.
- Restart the app you want to use it in — the font is now available system-wide.
What kind of work does Burford Font suit?
It sits in the Display Fonts group and reads as base, burford, display, display fonts. That makes it a candidate wherever those qualities help: headings, packaging, social graphics and brand work. Set it at the size you plan to use before deciding.
