Marion is a serif font family by Ray Larabie designed with inspiration from the 19th century. Its classic form, resembling Century Roman, is easily distinguished by strokes that resemble the timelessness of Baskerville. Marion is based on a range of historic metal type designs, and is thus not only nostalgic but also interesting.
Another peculiar detail of this typeface is the hammer claw type of serifs with some vintage smoke stack touch. Marion comes with four styles; Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic, thus offering a variety of tools for different projects.
Marion is simple yet elegant with old style numerals and the f-ligatures to give it a touch of the traditional whilst still being fully functional. The font also contains some fun discretionary ligatures and swash letter shapes that bring some joy to your designs.
Upgrade your designs with marin. Because of its history and special details it adds sophistication to the designs and vision of anyone who wants to design something outstanding.
Where Marion Font works best
Long reads that need authority
Reports, white papers and book interiors hold the eye longer when the text face has real serifs; Marion Font keeps that rhythm without looking old-fashioned.
Packaging with a heritage story
Food, spirits and cosmetics brands lean on serif wordmarks to suggest age and care. Marion Font gives that signal at wordmark size.
Certificates and formal documents
Set Marion Font for the body of an award or a diploma and keep the recipient name in a script; the pairing is what makes a document feel official.
Is Marion Font really free?
The download costs nothing and needs no account. What you may do with the font afterwards is set by its author: the license file travels inside the archive, and it is the only document that decides whether a commercial project is covered.
How do I install it on Windows or a Mac?
Three steps, no extra software:
- Download the ZIP and extract it (double-click on Mac, right-click → Extract on Windows).
- Open the .ttf or .otf file and click Install / Install Font.
- Restart the app you want to use it in — the font is now available system-wide.
What kind of work does Marion Font suit?
It sits in the Serif Fonts group and reads as bold, classic, elegant, serif. That makes it a candidate wherever those qualities help: headings, packaging, social graphics and brand work. Set it at the size you plan to use before deciding.
