Free fonts for greeting cards and invitations

A greeting card has room for one sentence and one feeling, so the lettering does most of the talking. This collection covers the range: cheerful rounded display faces for birthdays, elegant scripts for congratulations and sympathy, and casual handwritten styles that look like a note from a friend.

Use them for printed cards, digital greetings, gift tags and party invitations. Downloading is free; selling a card design is commercial use, and the ZIP license says whether that is allowed.

Setting a card so the message lands

Give the main phrase most of the front and keep everything else small. Scripts need 24 pt or more and generous line spacing, especially with flourishes. Centre the message optically rather than mathematically; letters with ascenders can make a line look off-centre. Inside the card, use a plain readable face so the handwritten note stays the star.
